Happy New Year!  I can't believe that it is already 2008.  I got a wonderful Christmas present with the arrival of three copies of the new Hungarian translation of Christotherapy.  I am so thankful to Kris for making this translation possible.  I also received an e-mail message from a psychologist and minister who congratulated me for the writing of the two Christotherapy books which he came across in preparing to teach a seminary course in pastoral counseling.  He was very enthusiastic about the relevance of Christotherapy today and his letter provided the best review I have had in a long time.  He said that he eagerly looked forward to a Christotherapy III and invited me to dialogue with him, which I will be happy to do.

The theory of everything is quite fascinating and I think it is possible to relate it in a complementary and dialectical way to both Frankl and Lonergan.  The theory of everything reminded me of some comments of Lonergan.  "God is not a datum to be understood.  He is the explanation of alll the data we possess."  I don't think that even seeing God directly will ever enable us to understand everything about everything, including God.  Thomas Aquinas remarked that in heaven we will understand God "totum sed non totaliter."  We will truly know God face to face as three persons but we will not understand God completely just as we do not understand any humanperson totally.  Both Rahner and Lonergan understood God as the "holy Mystery" and I think we will spend our eternity constantly discovering new things about God as the Holy Mystery.
