When my first Christotherapy book was published (1975) there were few books of this type around.  I noted this lacuna in my preface.  Today there are all sorts of such books around.   I consider both of my Christotherapy books (Christotherapy II, 1982) to be quite orthodox in their theology.  I was blessed to have spent considerable time with both Karl Rahner and Bernard Lonergan before I published these books and Lonergan's theology was pretty much my own.  Rahner's influence led me to affirm that the Holy Spirit of Christ was at work in all human beings (the anonymous Christian).  Since both theologians were alive when I wrote the two Christotherapy books I was still playing catch-up with them in my writing.  In general I think it is best to do doctoral theses on theologians or philosophers who are not still living.  In any case I did make an effort to be theologically orthodox which is not always the case in more recent books on the Christology of Christ-centered therapy.  At a key point in his later career Lonergan made the choice to pursue macro economics instead of Christology.  This disappointed me both because I am not particularly interested  or talented in the area of economics and because Lonergan had recently made some significant creative advances in his Christology and I think that this would have continued.  I think that Christotherapy remains viable today since translations in both Korean and Hungarian have appeared rather recently.  I continue to work on a book that would update Christotherapy but my teaching and my own low energy level due to my multiple sclerosis work against me.  But, "hope springs eternal."
