Philosophy and Life Styles and Christotherapy

Thank you Reinhard and I think your idea of ancient philosophy as a way of right living and not just speculation has much merit. I suppose that also Christotherapy could just be of academic interest to someone and not affect too much or at all how they actually live; maybe it could just be seen as an example of idiosyncracy to examine and classify and write a thesis on, for instance.


What is the ultimate basis for the choice of way of life that we make? Is it rational thought that reaches truth and deduces the practical action or is it from authority telling what is the correct practical action and then we draw forth further details about what to do? Or, is it some combination of this such as with children where parents tell and guide and children behave and learn?  It also seems that among children there are natural "angels" and natural "devils" at least from the parent's point of view. Obviously, ancient philosophy would be hard pressed to run a pre-school but I wouldn't completely negate that possibility for the most brilliant philosophers!
