Well, we will see if the web site is posting okay. Just received and mostly have read an interesting book on Jesuit Missionaries by Francois Roustang, SJ. It is translated from the French and written in 1961. What is interesting about this book is that it has many letters the early 1630's Jesuit Martyrs wrote and also includes reports they made.

This book has the complete letter of Isaac Jogues telling about his many tortures over a couple of months - he had his fingers chewed off, was burned with coals, had no clothes and no food, etc. It is most horrible to read! Plus, his companions were alternatively tortured and finally killed. And imagine, having survived all this and returned to France he chose to come back to New France finally be killed by the same Iroquois! I almost couldn't stand reading this and had to quit in fact for a day or so. The book is Jesuit Missionaries to North America available at Ignatius Press.
